All products produced by Manufacture de Digoin are made of natural mineral materials from Burgundy and surrounding Auvergne, Charente and Île-de-France. The pieces are shaped and enamelled by hand making them unique.
As the company is also a horticultural pottery, the pieces are fired in high-temperature furnaces (1250°) so pots will withstand frost and can be left outside all winter long. This type of firing is great for tableware, too, as it fixes the enamel and makes the ceramics non-porous preventing odours from being transferred to the stoneware.
This hand-crafted and familial business founded its factory des Grès et Poteries de Digoin in 1875 along the central canal in Burgundy. Over time international competition forced many potteries in Burgundy out of business but a group of backers in Paris thought this artisan industry was worth saving and invested in Manufacture de Digoin.
We are delighted to be able to carry their tableware and hope that you will love it as much as we do.
