Epicurean started as an offshoot of a company making skateboard ramps for local parks in the state of Wisconsin, USA, where they are still manufactured. The founders used the leftover material to make chopping boards for friends and family, who raved about them so enthusiastically that they found their way into kitchens in the UK, where cooks love them for several good reasons. They are very easy to clean, in the dishwasher or at the sink, because of their smooth, non-porous surfaces. This texture also makes them easy on your knife edges, stretching the amount of time between sharpenings, and resist lingering smells and deep knife grooves where bacteria can get cosy. Since the material is heat safe up to 176C, you can place hot pans on the surface when needed. Best of all, they’ll last forever and then some. This carving board has a recessed border on one side for collecting juice when carving meat, chopping tomatoes, or any other food prep that releases liquids. The other side can be used like a regular cutting board.
