Jams and Chutneys Cooking Class


Featured in The Times, this hands-on class teaches you how to make jam and chutney from scratch so you gain the skills to make them with any seasonal fruits and vegetables at home.

Ever taste a strawberry at the height of its season and wish you could experience that same taste all-year-round? That's why preserves exist! In this class, we'll teach you how to safely and effectively make fruit jam that will add character to toast, scones, cakes, and so much more. Skills and techniques you'll walk away with after making a seasonal fruit jam together include sugar-to-fruit ratio; how to tell when jam has reached its 'setting point'; sterilising jars properly; and how to work with pectin. We'll also make a carrot, turmeric and onion chutney you can use in a variety of applications, gaining an understanding of how to balance flavours in a savoury condiment. In addition to that, we'll make a sugar-free fruit spread. At the end of class, you'll sit down to enjoy everything you've made with a selection of cheese and crackers, with additional jars to take home and enjoy later.
