Product Details

Wusthof’s Amici series adds a Mediterranean touch to Wusthof’s renowned German steel blades. Every blade is fully forged from a single piece of stainless steel so it has a full tang, which allows for excellent blade-to-handle balance. The high-carbon blade undergoes a process in which the steel’s molecular structure is realigned to be stronger and more robust, honed twice by hand and once by laser to ensure a perfect finish. A full bolster makes chopping safer and more comfortable. Translation: Sharp, versatile and durable knives that’ll become the cornerstone of your food prep. The Calabrian olivewood handles are naturally water-resistant and antibacterial, with a curved ergonomic design.

This serrated utility knife is an effective slicer for everything from fresh and aged cheeses to cured meats, vegetables, fruits and soft dinner rolls.

Why we love it

'Western-style knives are designed to be heavier than Japanese knives because the weight of a blade does a lot of the work, especially when cutting tough foods like swedes or lamb shanks. What Wusthof has mastered is balancing that weight between the blade and handle, so you feel more in control when you chop.'

About The Brand

Wusthof

For over 200 hundred years, the Wusthof has manufactured their knives in Solingen, Germany, known as the ‘City of Blades’. What started as a metalsmith making scissors in a cellar during the Napoleonic Wars is now an internationally recognized name for high-quality European blades. The company, which is still family-owned, produces no less than 1200 knives and kitchen accessories that vary in style and price range, but are consistent in high quality.

We love that they employ the most up-to-date procedures throughout the entire production process, consisting of:

  • Measuring the blades before sharpening using lasers
  • Calculating via computers the precise sharpening angle for each blade
  • Sharpening the blades on a whetstone using precision robots
  • Special final polishing of all blades using a special disc

If strict quality standards are not achieved, the knife is not approved for sale. That’s why Wusthof’s trident logo symbolises their three core values of passion, diligence, and perfection.
