Product Details

Wusthof knives have been manufactured in the city of Solingen, Germany since 1814, and are recognised around the world for superior craftsmanship. In their cutting-edge Performer range, they’ve created knives that have a unique Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating, which almost doubles the hardness of the blade from 58 to 104 on the Rockwell scale. Translation: effortless slicing with an ultra-durable blade. This technology has never been used on a fully forged Western-style knife until now. The ‘lotus’ finish on every Performer blade resists moisture, making tasks like chopping onions and segmenting citrus, as well as clean-up, a breeze. The soft anti-slip handle, which is reinforced with plexiglass so it never wears down, has a honeycomb texture for an extremely secure grip. Please note that as this is a hard blade, caution must be exercised when cutting meat and hard vegetables; do not cut through bone or stones. The double serration on this bread knife allows you to slice through even the crustiest sourdough with ease whilst maintaining the shape and the crumb of the bread.

About The Brand

Wusthof

For over 200 hundred years, the Wusthof has manufactured their knives in Solingen, Germany, known as the ‘City of Blades’. What started as a metalsmith making scissors in a cellar during the Napoleonic Wars is now an internationally recognized name for high-quality European blades. The company, which is still family-owned, produces no less than 1200 knives and kitchen accessories that vary in style and price range, but are consistent in high quality.

We love that they employ the most up-to-date procedures throughout the entire production process, consisting of:

  • Measuring the blades before sharpening using lasers
  • Calculating via computers the precise sharpening angle for each blade
  • Sharpening the blades on a whetstone using precision robots
  • Special final polishing of all blades using a special disc

If strict quality standards are not achieved, the knife is not approved for sale. That’s why Wusthof’s trident logo symbolises their three core values of passion, diligence, and perfection.
