Knife Age Restrictions

Knives are age-restricted products and it is against the law to sell knives to anyone younger than 18 years of age.

Ordering online for delivery

In order to be compliant with the UK’s Offensive Weapons Act 2019, we carry out post-sale age-verification checks for all age-restricted items being sold to individuals in the UK. This includes all the knives, including cutlery knives, and open bladed items on our website. The age-verification check is carried out securely by AgeChecked.com and will be carried out automatically after you enter your billing details in our checkout when purchasing an age-restricted item. If we are unable to verify your age from your billing details, you will be asked to verify you are over 18 years of age based on electoral roll, driving licence, mobile phone or credit card, or ID scanner details before we can complete your purchase. You will have 2 attempts to verify your identity. If both attempts are unsuccessful, a member of our customer services team will reach out to you directly. For further information from agechecked.com please see their privacy policy here: https://www.agechecked.com/privacypolicy

For all shipments containing age-restricted items (e.g. knives), we will use a mandatory adult signature delivery service. Our delivery partner will require a signature from an adult (18+) on delivery before handing over your shipment. Please note that our delivery partner operates a Challenge 25 approach, meaning that if the recipient is lucky enough to look under 25, the driver will request to see a government issued ID before handing over the shipment.

Please note that it is now illegal for retailers to sell knives online in the UK without first verifying the purchaser is over the age of 18. Retailers must also use a delivery service where the recipient's age is verified as over 18.

If upon delivery the recipient is unable to provide proof of age, then the shipment will be returned to our warehouse. If the recipient of the delivery is not in, then DPD will return the item to their depot and attempt a second delivery. If the second delivery fails, the order will be returned to our warehouse.

If purchasing a gift, we will require the recipient to manually complete the age-verification process before we ship your gift. Alternatively, we can also ship gifts directly to the purchaser. Delivery to a nominated neighbour or safe location isn't available for these items.

Ordering online for click & collect

As with ordering online for home delivery, you can order age-restricted items on our website but you will still be required to pass the automated age-verifcation check. The age-verification check is carried out securely by AgeChecked.com and will be carried out automatically after you enter your billing details in our checkout when purchasing an age-restricted item. If we are unable to verify your age from your billing details, you will be asked to verify you are over 18 years of age based on electoral roll, driving licence, mobile phone or credit card details before you can complete your purchase.

Click & Collect from our London store in Islington can be selected in our checkout. Our stores operate a Challenge 25 approach, meaning that if the person collecting the item is lucky enough to look under 25, the sales associate will request to see a government issued ID before handing over the age-restricted items.

If you are unable to provide appropriate proof of age

If you are unable to prove your age, then we will unfortunately, have to cancel your order and will provide you with a refund for your purchase. If the item has been sent to you and you are not able to provide proof of age on delivery, then we won’t be able to refund delivery charges incurred and you may be responsible for return delivery costs.
