The four Wüsthof knife ranges we carry have various handle designs to suit individual tastes and requirements in terms of ergonomics. All knives are suitable for both right- and left-handers. Three of the ranges are made from a single piece of precision-forged steel—using over 40 production steps—running the entire length of the knife and handle. The fourth range is non-forged.
XLine
XLine features a large format blade shape and takes its name from the "X" design on the bolster of the knife. This X-shaped transition between blade and handle ensures that the correct handling of the knife is intuitive, as well as giving optimum guidance for the blade.
Classic Ikon
The Classic Ikon range features an innovative handle design for comfort and control and is perfectly balanced for effortless cutting.
Classic
The Classic range features a traditional handle design and the red Trident logo.
Silverpoint
Silverpoint is a non-forged range with blades precisely laser-cut from one piece of high-quality stainless steel. With synthetic black handles, this range is wonderful for beginner cooks.
Once you have decided on the range, we can help you decide which knives best suit your needs. Are you looking for a chef's knife, bread knife, carving knife? Blade length, weight, edge and finish are some of the things to consider when purchasing a knife.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you clean Wüsthof knives; are Wüsthof knives dishwasher safe?
It is best to clean your knives straight after you have used them. Wash with warm, soapy water and carefully dry with a towel.
Though technically, the knives are suitable for cleaning in the dishwasher, the life of your knife may be dramatically reduced with this process. This is because there is the danger that the blades will hit against one another or against other objects in the dishwasher and become damaged. Or, if the correct amount of detergent and rinse aid is not used, rust particles or localised corrosion can quickly appear.
Properly caring for high-quality knives means you will be able to enjoy using them for a long time.
Do Wüsthof knives need to be sharpened?
Yes. It is really important to keep a sharp edge on your knife. To compensate for a dull blade by cutting with adding additional force can be dangerous. You can use a steel, a whetstone or a handheld sharpener.
Sharpening a knife actually takes a small amount of steel off the blade. Depending on how often the knives are used, they may only need to be sharpened once or twice a year.
It is important to regularly hone your knife in order to keep the blade in good shape. Honing can be used frequently -even after each use- and will mean your knife will last longer between sharpening.
It is always recommended to use the same brand sharpener as the knives you are sharpening because the steel hardness varies from one manufacturer to another.
What is Wüsthof PEtec?
Wüsthof’s Precision Edge Technology means their knives are put through the following four steps. First, the blades are measured by laser before sharpening. Then, the precise sharpening angle for each blade is calculated by computer programmes. Next, precision robots are used to sharpen blades on a whetstone. Finally, the knives are given a final polish using a special disc.
These steps ensure exceptional cutting performance using the entire length of the blade and provide a long service life of the knife.
Do Wüsthof knives have a lifetime warranty?
Wüsthof cutlery is manufactured to the highest quality standards. With that assurance of quality their products are fully guaranteed to be free of defects in material and craftsmanship. The warranty does not apply for normal wear or misuse.
