A flavourful autumn cocktail that marries apple and allspice. Allspice liqueur takes a bit of effort to get, but it’s a great inclusion to your home bar. It adds a spicy note to rye or bourbon-based drinks such as an Old Fashioned or Manhattan.

Ingredients

100ml cloudy English apple juice
50ml Havana Club 3 year old rum
5ml lime juice
1/4 tsp Bitter Truth Pimento Dram allspice liqueur
30ml cold club soda (optional)
1 cored apple slice and grating of cinnamon, for garnish

Method

  1. Measure apple juice, rum, lime juice and allspice liqueur into a cocktail shaker
  2. Add ice, close shaker and shake vigorously
  3. Strain over fresh ice cubes in a rocks glass
  4. Top with club soda, if desired, and garnish with apple slice and cinnamon

BK Tips

  • This is a great drink to make in batches; serve in a jug or punchbowl
  • Bitter Truth Pimento Dram can be found online or at premium drinks retailers in London
  • We use Chegworth Valley's Cox & Bramley Apple Juice, but any good-quality apple juice will do here
