A flavourful Autumn cocktail that marries apple and spice. Allspice liqueur takes a bit of effort to get, but it’s a great inclusion to your home bar. It adds a spicy note to rye or bourbon-based drinks such as an Old Fashioned or Manhattan.


  • 100ml cloudy English apple juice
  • 50ml Havana Club 3 year old rum
  • 5ml lime juice
  • 1/4 tsp Bitter Truth Pimento Dram allspice liqueur
  • Optional 30ml cold club soda
  • 1 cored apple slice, grating of cinnamon stick, for garnish

For the Cocktail

  1. Measure apple juice, rum, lime juice and allspice liqueur into a mixing glass
  2. Add ice, close shaker and shake vigorously
  3. Strain over fresh ice cubes in a rocks glass
  4. Top with club soda, if desired, and garnish with apple slice and cinnamon
