Product Details
Every Babel candle is named after a word that has no equivalent in English, but can be conjured through scent. Samar, an Arabic word, stems from the root verb 'samara', meaning to chat with good company into the night, especially after a night of music and poetry. (It's perfect for lighting as a dinner party winds down.) This candle has bright spices at the top (citrus, pink pepper), a rich ambery heart (myrrh, benzoin, frankincense), and smoky base of cade, nagarmotha root, and vetiver. Inspired by founder Henri's study of the Arabic language and time spent in Morocco, Samar brings together the spice of the markets, the heat of the desert air, and the resinous woods of traditional perfumery into one beautifully balanced scent. Hand-poured in London, its blend of beeswax and coconut oil ensures a clean burn that naturally purifies the air. The FSC-certified wood wick burns evenly and produces a gentle crackling sound, while the durable stainless steel vessel, can be cleaned and reused as a tumbler or refilled with Babel candles. (Samar refills are available here.) This candle is exclusive to Borough Kitchen.
Please note: Stainless steel containers get hot while burning, so place the candle on a trivet or heat-proof surface.
Why we love it
'Babel candles have completely unique, well-rounded scents built from complex layers of at least eight different essential oils. Every detail is intentional, from the fully natural (not 'nature-derived') ingredients to the way beeswax and coconut oil blend purifies air as it burns. The sound of the wood wick crackling adds an extra layer of sensory experience.'
