With the Big Green Egg Rotisserie, it is now possible to roast succulent, self-basted poultry with crisped edges. It doesn't stop with chicken. You can also cook other meat, large vegetables such as squash and cauliflower, and pineapple, using either direct or indirect heat. This attachment is available for Large and XL Eggs. The rotisserie has a coated steel ring attachment that seals the Egg for optimal heat and flavour retention, and runs on a powerful but quiet 220V – 240V motor to evenly turn food over the flame. You can fit two medium to large chickens on the Rotisserie for the Large Big Green Egg. An XL can accommodate three.

Specifications & Care

  • After it has cooled, remove the spit from the motor
  • Lift the ring from the rim of the Egg; fill a sink with hot soapy water
  • Loosen the wing screws for both forks and carefully remove everything from the spit
  • Wash and dry each wing screw and fork; then wash and dry the spit and handle
  • Put the forks back on the skewer and tighten the wing screws
  • Finally, wash and dry the Rotisserie ring

  • However, if your Nest has shelves, it will only work if the shelves are folded down
  • The spit can hold, and turn, up to 25kg

Big Green Egg

The Big Green Egg Company was founded by Ed Fisher in 1974 and is based in Tucker, Georgia, USA. Their signature product is a kamado-style ceramic charcoal barbecue that is a very versatile cooking device which can grill, bake, smoke or slow-cook your food. Ed discovered kamado cookers when he was a serviceman based in Japan, and was so impressed with these cookers he introduced them back home.

The Big Green Egg is manufactured from a ceramic, partly developed by NASA, that is designed to reflect heat and to allow temperatures of up to 650°C, making restaurant-quality bread or pizza easy to achieve at home. The temperature inside the Big Green Egg can be regulated between 70°C and 350°C, maintained to the degree even when the outdoor temperature is below freezing.

The Big Green Egg is produced in several sizes and with numerous bases, tables, shelves and accessories to create your ideal setup, and the company sells various barbecue accessories, from lump charcoal to expanding shelves, that are optimised for their grills.
