Product Details
Made from lutindzi, a fibrous grass that is sustainable by default as the roots do not need to be cut, this hand-woven coaster set makes a beautiful addition to any table or countertop. Due to its strong, waxy finish, these 10cm coasters, the container, and other items made from lutindzi are waterproof and stain-resistant. To clean, all you have to do is wipe it down with a damp cloth and, for tougher stuck-on bits, brush off with a toothbrush or small cleaning brush. Every Gone Rural item is made in Swaziland by the company's network of local women artisans, who use native hand-weaving techniques passed down through generations.
Why we love it
'Wonderfully tactile and with a subtle, fresh fragrance, Gone Rural's woven tableware has been around since the 1970s and is popular in over 30 countries for good reason. Every piece is made using traditional techniques in the homes of Swazi weavers, who have unparalleled skill and knowledge in working with this unique material.'

About The Brand
Gone Rural
The process of making Gone Rural's products is unique: First, the lutindzi is harvested by women in the mountains of Swaziland, where this grass is native. Then, it is dyed by colour specialists in the town of Malkerns before being bundled and delivered to Swazi artisans who weave the items in their own homes, providing flexibility and convenience to their network of over 780 weavers. Since its founding in 1987, Gone Rural products are sold in over 1000 stores across 32 countries.
