The Laguiole region of France has garnered a reputation for producing the finest quality cutlery, and with good reason. There have been cutlers operating in and around the town of Laguiole since the early 19th century, and their wares have become prized for their superior workmanship, materials and attention to detail. This cheese knife was born from this tradition and incorporates all the design features Laguiole cutlery is known for. The signature bee on the hilt would traditionally have kept a folding blade from slamming but has become the internationally recognised adornment of knives from this region. There are many copycat versions of a Laguiole knife, but they do not compare with the singular design, texture, and workmanship of this original. The juniper wood handle sits comfortably in the palm of your hand and features intricate metalwork decorations inlaid along the spine. This knife is ideal for medium and hard cheeses, with forked end for easy serving.
Why we love it
'You can feel how incredible the workmanship is on this knife when it's in your hand, and the juniper has a lovely, peppery scent.'
