Product Details
Made in Japan, the Naniwa Advance 1000/3000 Grit Combination Whetstone keeps your knives sharp and performing at their best. Featuring a double-sided construction, it offers a medium #1000 grit to restore a sharp working edge and a fine #3000 grit to hone and refine kitchen knives and tools to a silky, razor-sharp polish – all without requiring pre-soaking. Due to its unique resin bonding, dense structure, and non-porous surface, this Naniwa Advance whetstone lubricates instantly, so all you have to do is splash or spray it with water before sharpening a knife. (Do not soak the stone, as that will damage the resin bond.) Use the 1000-grit side to quickly sharpen dull edges and correct minor wear, and the 3000-grit side to smoothly hone and polish the apex for smooth, effortless cutting.
How to Use: Position your whetstone on a stable, anti-slip surface. Starting on the 1000-grit side, splash the surface with water and find the blade's angle. Stroke the blade against the stone from base to edge. Keep track of the exact number of strokes you make. Sprinkle the stone with more water and repeat the exact amount of strokes for the other side of the blade. Now flip to the 3000-grit side to finish the process. Sprinkle with water, find the blade's angle, and stroke the blade against the stone from base to edge, keeping track of the amount of strokes you make. Repeat for the other side of the blade.
How to Clean: Rinse the stone with water and let it air-dry completely before storing. Do not place in the dishwasher.
Why we love it
