Product Details
Made in Japan, the Naniwa Whetstone Flattening Stone is designed to keep your whetstones in optimal condition for efficient sharpening. After frequent use, whetstone surfaces can dip and become concave – this flattening stone restores a whetstone's surface so it's flat again. Having a flat and level surface on whetstones is crucial for consistent sharpening. This levelling stone's coarse 220-grit rapidly cuts through worn material, while the deep diagonal grooves collect material removed to prevent clogging.
How to Use: Soak the flattening stone in water for several minutes, as well as the whetstone you want to restore. (Skip soaking if using a no-soak whetstone.) Move the ridged side back and forth over the surface of the whetstone until the flat surface is restored.
Why we love it
'Over time, your whetstones wear down, but this Naniwa flattening stone brings them back to top condition.'
