Product Details
The Lodge Blacklock skillet was designed to be 25% lighter and easier to manoeuvre than the traditional Lodge cast iron skillet, which is recognised all around the world for its versatility and durability. Cast iron is able to get extremely hot and retain that heat, resulting in gorgeously browned foods, whether that's seared steak or Brussels sprouts. It can go on all hobs including induction, in ovens, and on the barbecue. Best of all, it only gets better with time, as contact with oil makes this pan develop a patina that resists sticking. You can think of it as a lifetime-lasting alternative to a non-stick frying pan. The triple-seasoned surface on the Blacklock skillet speeds up the build-up of this patina, so you can start using this pan straight out of the box – no pre-seasoning required – and enjoy its stick-resistant properties sooner. The skillet features a vented, slightly raised handle, pouring spouts, and a helper handle. (Note: the small 18cm size does not include a helper handle.) Like all cast iron cookware, it requires a bit of special attention to clean and maintain; read instructions on how to do that here. The diameter size refers to the rim of the pan, not the base.
Note: Because Lodge pans are made using a traditional sand-moulding technique and undergo pre-seasoning before reaching you, there may be minor cosmetic imperfections such as pinholes or smudges on the surface. These are considered normal and do not affect the performance of the pans.
Why we love it
'It's a great way to enjoy the benefits of a cast iron skillet, without the heavy weight. The triple-seasoned finish makes a big difference – it's much easier to clean and re-season when needed.'
