Product Details

Wusthof knives have been manufactured in the city of Solingen, Germany since 1814, and are recognised around the world for superior craftsmanship. Every knife in the Classic Ikon range is fully forged from a single piece of stainless steel so it has a full tang, which creates excellent blade-to-handle balance. The high-carbon blade undergoes a process in which the steel’s molecular structure is realigned to be stronger and more robust, honed twice by hand and once by laser to ensure a perfect finish. As a result, it is extremely durable and retains sharpness well. What sets a Classic Ikon knife apart is its handle, which is designed to align with the curve of your hand as you grip it, as well as bolsters in the top and bottom of the handle for additional balance. This complete knife block includes everything you need to set up your perfect kitchen.

The set contains:

  • Peeling Knife (7cm), for precision peeling
  • Paring Knife (9cm), for intricate off-board work
  • Serrated Utility (14cm), ideal for tomatoes or any vegetable with a slightly firmer exterior
  • Utility Knife (16cm), for every day chopping, slicing and dicing
  • Bread Knife (23cm), for perfectly sliced bread with a delicate crumb
  • Santoku (17cm), a versatile everyday chopping knife in the Japanese fashion, encouraging precise chopping, dicing and dicing
  • Chef's Knife (20cm), the most versatile knife in your collection, providing stability, versatility and superb chopping.
  • Sharpening Steel (26cm), to maintain the edge of your blades and keep them sharp
  • Straight Meat Fork (16cm), giving you stability when carving large joints of meat
  • A 9-Slot black knife block with a diagonal surface for easy reach

Why we love it

‘Western-style knives are designed to be heavier than Japanese knives because the weight of a blade does a lot of the work, especially when cutting tough foods like swedes or lamb shanks. What Wusthof has mastered is balancing that weight between the blade and handle so you feel more in control when you chop.’ –Justin
About The Brand

For over 200 hundred years, the Wusthof has manufactured their knives in Solingen, Germany, known as the ‘City of Blades’. What started as a metalsmith making scissors in a cellar during the Napoleonic Wars is now an internationally recognized name for high-quality European blades. The company, which is still family-owned, produces no less than 1200 knives and kitchen accessories that vary in style and price range, but are consistent in high quality.

We love that they employ the most up-to-date procedures throughout the entire production process, consisting of:

  • Measuring the blades before sharpening using lasers
  • Calculating via computers the precise sharpening angle for each blade
  • Sharpening the blades on a whetstone using precision robots
  • Special final polishing of all blades using a special disc

If strict quality standards are not achieved, the knife is not approved for sale. That’s why Wusthof’s trident logo symbolises their three core values of passion, diligence, and perfection.
